Abstract:
Mohamad Hamaouie’s lecture explores the importance of tradition in architecture, and he will argue that architects should seek a balance between modernity on the one hand, and local culture on the other. This lecture will present a selection of Hamaouie’s professional work from the Gulf region, where he practiced for over 25 years, ranging from public works to domestic architecture. His approach is also based on the active engagement of local craftsmen in architectural production and the revival of local building traditions.
