Abstract:
Lebanon's very special combination of circumstances is known by everybody: its location as a regional business center, banking secrecy and little or no taxation, These appeal to investors, But in spite of this, many problems are embodied in this country.
This research is divided into three chapters, it will tackle the problems facing the Lebanese economy in all its aspects, starting with chapter one by an overview of the Lebanese economy by sectorial activity, discussing each sector separately (Agriculture, Manufacturer Industry which is referred to as Industry throughout the whole text of this research and Commerce & Services) and then comparing them with respect to productivity, growth and employment. Trade, balance of trade and balance of payments will conclude the first chapter. Chapter two will emphasize the reasons why the Lebanese economy is viewed as an economy of coincidence in terms of structure, society, private lending, public policy and regional factors, and economy of disaster in terms of politics, monetary situation and policy regarding inflation, deficit borrowing and emigration, As for the third and last chapter, it will describe the desired future of the Lebanese economy as well as the means by which it can be improved.
My aim is to stress the importance of the Lebanese economy and the necessity to start looking at it from a proper angle, seeking for improvement measures as to the political system, public administration, regional convergence and better sectors.
