Abstract:
Nowadays, Cable Television is playing an important and major role all over the world; however, it is still not well developed in Lebanon. Therefore, the purpose of this research is an assessment of the actual situation of the Wireless Cable TV industry in Lebanon. This was possible through the distribution of questionnaires to prospect subscribers of Cablevision, which is a currently operating Wireless Cable TV company in Lebanon, as well as to a sample of Cablevision's current subscribers. An interview was also conducted with the actual Marketing and Sales Manager at Cablevision. The information required from these questionnaires and interview were: The reasons behind the low number of Cablevision's subscribers, the opinion of the actual Cablevision's subscribers regarding its services as well as Cablevision's future Marketing plans to attract new subscribers. The results of this study revealed that although the actual subscribers of Cablevision seem to be quite satisfied with its services, however Cablevision has not been able to attract new subscribers due to the tremendous spread of the Satellite Dish installation, to the non-complete signal coverage of Cablevision to all the Lebanese territories as well as to Cablevision's focus on a certain category of people and not the whole society. One can conclude that the Wireless Cable TV System will have a bright future in Lebanon whenever the new law of information which will allow the broadcast of around 6 free TV stations is implemented; Cablevision's signal by then should have covered the whole Lebanon with a marketing strategy that is directed to all ages, groups and categories.
