dc.description.abstract This action research project involved implementation of an eclectic approach of prevention, correction and interpersonal skills, to promote teachers' classroom management. The target population was the 17 teachers of6 Grade I sections in XY3 School. Teachers' problems in classroom management were documented by field notes, behavioral checklists of targeted teachers, videotaped classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with both teachers and students, and teachers' journal entries. A review of solution strategies generated by knowledgeable others and an analysis of the problem context resulted in fostering better teachers' management in the classrooms. Post-intervention data indicated that positive classroom management techniques, coupled with prevention, correction and interpersonal skills promoted better teacher's control in the classroom. The 36 week intervention consisted of 3 workshops and multi post observation conferences that tackled (J) enforcement of classroom rules and procedures; (2) use of appropriate interventions to manage student behavior and establishment of teacher student behavior; and (3) establishment of positive teacher student relationships. en_US
