Abstract:
Endoscopic placement of biliary uncovered self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) offers effective long-term palliation to patients with malignant obstruction of the common bile or common hepatic duct. Nitinol SEMS with narrow cell (NC) and open cell (OC) design are available and differ in their bio-mechanical properties. However, prior reports have not compared the performance of these two SEMS designs.
