dc.description.abstract |
Endoscopically placed self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) offer an effective palliative treatment for patients with malignant duodenal (DS) and biliary strictures (BS). Endoscopic biliary SEMS (EBS) placement is challenging, and in some cases impossible, in patients with concomitant duodenal strictures. Percutaneous biliary drainage (PBD) is technically less demanding in the presence of a DS, but in most cases requires at least a temporary external drainage catheter. |
