Abstract:
Knowledge Sharing and Interpersonal Trust are some of the most important factors affecting an organization progress and survival. This project examines the impact of
personality traits on knowledge sharing via interpersonal trust in the Lebanese
environment. The reason behind this project is the increased attention on knowledge sharing as a catalyst providing a competitive advantage to an organization, and the importance of interpersonal trust seen as a promoter to knowledge sharing in the
workplace. Several studies discussed throughout this project support the fact that personality traits affect knowledge sharing behaviors of an individual in an organization.
Furthermore, these studies also support the notion that interpersonal trust might be
positively affected by a person's tendency to trust -which also supports the studies on
self projection in an organization - thus increasing the degree of knowledge sharing behaviors. The study gave support to the hypotheses it generated which would lead us to posit the importance of personality based measures in trust and the prediction of knowledge
sharing in the workplace. Consequently, given that some personality traits are related to
behavioral attitudes at work, it necessitates the inclusion of personality tests in employee
selection within this field. This information can certainly help in the recruitment process of employee by narrowing down the research for the ideal candidate.
By replicating the current relationship in large and diverse samples future research could
enrich the understanding of these relationships. Future studies could also build a more comprehensive model, which includes some personality traits not included in this
research with different mediating variables. As a result, there is a promising avenue for
future research through studying the impact of personality traits in the researches on the processes that facilitate knowledge sharing.
