dc.description.abstract |
This chapter briefly describes how Industry 4.0 technologies have placed digital multimedia data at the center of organizations of all sizes and across many industries. It describes the potential of harnessing the power of digitalization by investing in the right technologies and equipment. This chapter argues that it is not enough to set-up a camera system, deploy an IoT infrastructure, purchase Cloud resources, or develop a digital twin of the factory floor. Businesses without a complete data strategy will have a lot of difficulty making sense of the huge influx of multimedia data, and risk falling behind their better-prepared competitors. This chapter attempts to answer the following questions: How is digitalization transforming industrial applications and methods? How are visual and multimedia data leveraged to improve industrial processes? |
