Abstract:
Computer Science has been rapidly evolving at unprecedented
rates over the past decade. As curricular guidelines are being
developed by the CS2023 ACM/IEEE/AAAI taskforce, this
article attempts to emphasize how computer science education
is happening in a diverse area of the world, namely the Arab
World. We focus on four regions within the Arab World which
are Egypt, the Levant, the Arabian Gulf, and Northwest Africa.
We present the spectrum of higher education in each region
focusing on computer science education. Additionally, leading
programs are highlighted as case studies indicating how each
program copes with ongoing computer science education
challenges.
