The study at hand explores the effects of the social, economic, political, and governmental factors on Lebanese citizen’s motives to migrate to France. Considering the constant economic crises and political turmoil that have been occurring in Lebanon historically, Lebanese citizens have been significantly affected to the point of deciding to move from Lebanon for a better quality of life. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of the variables at hand and their role in pushing Lebanese to move to France in specific. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through sending an online survey to 50 Lebanese individuals residing in France. Interviews were held with 5 participants of the sample. The survey and interview questions were developed by the author of this study. The results revealed a significant effect for all factors in the population, with the strongest factor being the political factor. Two groups were compared on their scores; those that moved before 2019 and those that moved in 2019 and afterwards. Results showed a significant increase in the political factor. The results contribute to the growing body of literature on the topic of emigration and the factors at hand. Limitations included small sample size and a lack of a control group. Further research is necessary to make general statements on all the sub factors at hand. |
