Abstract:
Given that energy demand is drastically increasing yearly, the production of a clean and environmental-friendly method is needed. Using energy from the sun has had a relative impact on the progress of efficiently using hydrogen gas as our new energy source. Like any research project, studies are constantly trying to facilitate the transition from fossil fuels to hydrogen gas. First, it consists of looking at the method of production, transportation, storage, and combustion. In the Khnayzer Research Group, a probable approach to producing hydrogen gas starts by exposing a mixture containing an iridium transition metal complex photosensitizer, a triethylamine electron donor, and a platinum nanoparticle catalyst to light. In addition, the research aim is to quantitatively study and monitor the effect of the production of hydrogen gas while modifying the concentration of the potential surface 1,10-phenanthroline ligand added.
