Resilience in Light of Economic Hardship in Lebanon

Abstract

The proposed research is designed to establish an association between resilience and economic hardship, alongside examining the various levels and psychological outcomes such as depression, anxiety, religiosity, and sleep patterns. This paper adopts a cross-sectional design that builds upon empirical research on the psychological impacts of economic hardship in Lebanon. Seeing that Lebanon has been witnessing one of the biggest economic crises, this study aims to provide an overall view on how the perception of economic hardship within the Lebanese people can be affected by and in turn affect resilience. This research consists of 470 Lebanese respondents within the ages of 18 to 64 who will be subject to reading and signing a consent form alongside the electronic survey sent to them. Resilience is expected to serve as a protective factor against depression, anxiety, and sleep problems when faced with economic hardship. This proposed research will provide more insight on the coping of Lebanese people with the crisis that has been affecting them for the past year.
