dc.description.abstract The relationship between language and thought has been a major area of discussion and debate for many philosophers, linguists, and researchers. While some considered that these two variables are separate faculties, others argued that they share many links and relationships. The study conducted in this research paper aimed at investigating whether there exists an influential relationship between language and thought. The participants were first year university students who viewed magazine images in the presence and absence of linguistic interference. Content analysis was done on the participants’ responses to an openended questionnaire which questioned the interpretation of the images. The findings of the study suggest that language has an evident impact on thought and cognition. en_US
