Du „too big to fail” au „too big to believe”. Quand l’emprunt trace sa voie dans la terminologie française de la crise budgétaire américaine

Abstract

Through online economic texts published in 2013 by the French press following the American Congress failure to pass a budget for 2014, we examine how loan terms have made their way in the French terminology of the American budget crisis. Are loan terms replacing a French economic terminology in use? If so, what are the reasons? What are the functions of loan terms in the economic discourse? How do they figure in context? In short, a textual and sociolinguistic approach of loan terms appears through this present study.
