Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is utilized in order to allow the system to respond changes with minimum or no impact to the overall system output. Implementing flexibility in the body shop plays a major role in achieving flexibility in the vehicle assembly process. The framing process is one of the top contributors to the body shop flexibility. In this paper, the impact of implementing layered framing build process on the flexibility and performance of a body shop is presented. |
