Abstract:
The School of Architecture & Design is hosting its keynote lecture titled: “The Second Digital Turn: Discretism, Artificial Intelligence, and Design” by Mario Carpo.
Digitally intelligent architecture no longer looks the way it did in the 1990s. Just like spline-modeling and digital mass-customization upended design and fabrication twenty years ago, today robotics, Big Data, brute force computing, and second generation Artificial Intelligence are disrupting the way things are made, the way they look - and the way of thinking that is behind them. This lecture will explore the impact and transformations of the digital revolution on contemporary architecture, and its future.
